Job Overview: The Manager of Paving will oversee all aspects of paving projects at RBMN. Specifically, this individual will be responsible for the planning, sourcing of materials, site preparation and execution of all paving projects. This includes all MOW related paving projects as well as paving projects for other departments. This individual will also work closely with outside agencies to ensure RBMN specs are met on all paving jobs. When not assigned a paving project, this individual will be utilized as either an Equipment Operator or MOW Trackman. 


Responsibilities and Duties:


AsAssist Department leaders to complete work assigned each day.

Oersee all RBMN paving projects.

Attending site meetings for paving projects.

Obtain bids for blacktop and/or other paving related materials.

Schedule and plan equipment rentals/movements.

Ensure crossing sites are prepped and ready for paving.

Overseeing a MOW crew on the day(s) paving is scheduled.

Manage site cleanup.

Train other individuals in paving.

Maintain a clean CDL.

Operate assigned MOW equipment.

Work in an MOW gang under the direction of a MOW Foreman/Division Leader.

Report to various locations on railroad for work each day.

Perform basic maintenance to railroad track structure or bridge structure.

Keep the work site clean of trash and debris even if it is unrelated to the work performed.

Use appropriate PPE to work safely.

Other duties as assigned and required by MOW VP/AVP/Director


Qualifications


Basic construction understanding using tools such as but not limited to shovels, sledgehammers, picks, wrenches, and hydraulic tools.

Ability to work around loud machines and equipment.

Ability to work alone or in mixed groups.

Ability to work in all kinds of weather conditions.

Must be able to lift, up to, but not limited to, 70lbs.

Ability to bend, stand, kneel or sit for long periods.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Finger dexterity, operation of motor vehicle, operation of equipment, manage multiple tasks/projects, close attention to detail and adapt to ever changing work environment.

Working hours are typically Monday – Friday between the hours of 7am and 5pm but may require occasional Saturdays as needed at the discretion of MOW VP/AVP.

Be available for after-hour call outs.

Valid driver’s license.

Operational vehicle to commute to/from work.

Positive attitude.

Exposure to chemicals, noise, dust and heights.

Ability to successfully pass FRA-mandated background check, pre-employment and ongoing random drug screens, physical examination, and breath alcohol test.
