Position Title:
Behavioral Interventionist
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling or Related Field preferred; or extensive relevant experience
2. Experience Working with Children/Adolescents with Emotional/Behavioral Issues
3. Strong Interpersonal Skills
Reports to:
Program Administrator or designee
Responsibilities:
1. Manage student behavior consistently and fairly and in conjunction with behavior management system and program rules and expectations.
2. Ensure that service logs and billing sheets are accurately and legibly completed and logged.
3. Provide individual counseling and/or family sessions with students for the purpose of progress monitoring and fiscal billing based upon the needs and recommendations of the IEP team.
4. Conduct ongoing progress monitoring in order to address the progress towards goals and discuss any specific concerns. Provide feedback regarding discharge timelines and transition.
5. Observe and provide students with redirection and positive interventions for inappropriate behaviors.
6. Assist, monitor and guide the student to maintain attention, participate in activities, and complete tasks.
7. Accompany students on school buses or other vehicles.
8. Consult with other service providers, teachers and family, in accordance to state and federal regulations, concerning the student’s medical/therapeutic status.
9. Respond to crisis situations utilizing strategies consistent with training, state and federal regulations.
10. Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings to discuss program and student issues in order to promote continuity of care.
11. Complete necessary student reports documenting events or contact with the student as per state and federal guidelines.
12. Participate in annual training to promote safe and proper delivery of services to children and adolescents.
13. Conduct self in a manner, which promotes the team approach. Facilitate cooperation and work with all staff at the program facility and within the Intermediate Unit. Notify supervisor of any conflicts in order to employ effective conflict resolution.
Method of Evaluation:
Behavioral Interventionist will be evaluated annually in accordance with the IU 29 Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Compensation Plan Employees.
Terms of Employment:
Terms of employment and salary to be in accordance with current compensation plan.
